Fire detection and alarm syst em are based on
two technologies, featuring ‘automatic fire detectors'
(AFD), such as a smoke detector, and ‘manual call points' (MCP),
or as they are commonly known, ‘break glass units'.
For smaller buildings, the most cost-effective
option is to install ‘non-addressable' fire detection technology,
wherein a small building is split into zones to speed the location
of a fire. Each zone may have AFD and/or MCP units, which will cause
the main control panel (LED status indicator) to operate the sound
alarm and alert occupants in the event of a fire.
Various options are available:
Aspirating smoke detector
Ionisation smoke detector
Optical smoke detector
Heat detector
Multisensor detector
Beam detector
Flame Detector
Audible alarm sounders and visual (flashing) alarms
